Dairy health system management provider smaXtec has launched a new digital assistant service to help farmers prioritise workloads – and improve herd and reproductive health.
The company says the new service draws on data direct from the herd via its ruminal bolus technology, alongside artificial intelligence (AI), to create automated management lists and reports for farmers and their staff.
Chris Howarth, smaXtec’s chief sales officer, says the data generated by the digital assistant will help save time and increase efficiency on farms.
“The assistant is designed to make herd health and reproductive management easier than ever before,” adds Mr Howarth.
“It filters all relevant information and ensures that farmers and their staff can concentrate on what matters most when it comes to herd health and reproduction.”
He says the assistant creates a to-do list based on a farm’s individual needs so that staff know what tasks to carry out first – something which is especially beneficial on large farms with several members of staff.
“Farmers can easily customise the lists at any time and design their workflows so that employees can keep track of which tasks are pending and benefit from a more efficient organisation,” adds Mr Howarth.
He says the digital assistant is designed to work alongside smaXtec’s TruAdvice™ technology, which has been expanded to include alerts for a wider range of health problems.
Launched last year, TruAdviceTM uses AI technology to generate highly accurate disease indication notifications for common dairy cow diseases. It initially provided alerts for cases of mastitis, but it can now alert farmers to cases of milk fever and ketosis.
“TruAdviceTM uses millions of data points to generate highly accurate disease indiciation alerts,” says Mr Howarth.
“This enables farmers to act early, before a health situation becomes critical. When used alongside the digital assistant, farmers can respond to each animal in a targeted manner and see which animals need to be examined and treated – and how.”
smaXtec’s bolus technology provides accurate insight into a cow’s inner body temperature, water intake and drinking cycles, rumination, and activity levels by taking continuous measurements directly from the reticulum.
