Razorback Ltd, a new British manufacturer headed by Martin Lole, a well-known industry figure with a track record in engineering innovative solutions, will debut their new range of grassland and hedgerow equipment at Cereals 2019. The company will use its stand 1038 to launch the Razorback RT500 rotary mower with trailed harrow and to present the Auto-Level 550 rotary hedgecutter, both of which draw on decades of combined industry knowledge of the new market entrant’s experienced R&D, sales and service teams.
The new Razorback RT500 Rotary Mower with trailed harrow delivers exceptional versatility
Boasting a high standard of British engineering, the RT500 with Trailed Harrow positions itself as an indispensable tool in the management of grassland and stubbles.
The harrow features five rows of 24” tines which invigorate grassland directly behind the mower and promote better aeration by disturbing residue in the lower levels of the sward, stimulating healthier regrowth.
In a single pass, the Razorback RT500 mower and harrow duo has proven itself to be a vital cultural component for slug control, particularly in Oilseed Rape stubbles where cutting and smashing residue significantly reduces slug habitats and pressure to the following crop, decreasing reliance on molluscicides – particularly important for water sensitive areas.
The combination also saves users time and diesel when managing stale seedbeds, consolidating two passes into a single operation, cutting and stimulating to accelerate the decomposition of surface straw whilst generating the perfect environment for an effective flush of weeds prior to drilling.
Whilst the Harrow has been specifically designed to complement the RT500, the trailed implement’s design by no means puts it in second place. With a uniquely designed parallel linkage, the tines maintain constant contact with the ground independently of the drawbar, whether affixed behind the RT500 or directly to the tractor.
With or without the Harrow the RT500 offers users a range of innovative features that put the new entrant at the forefront of the industry.
With a cutting width of five metres, the Razorback RT500 mower boasts solid construction and efficient rotary blade action that make light work of the most demanding agricultural and amenity operations.
As you would expect from a British-engineered product built on decades of heritage, the Razorback RT500 has been developed with strength and durability in mind.
Specifically, it features an easy-clean double skin deck and full-length removable skid shoes to extend the longevity of the machine.
Additionally, the RT500 is fitted with the highest specification Bondioli & Pavesi gearboxes and drivelines with latest easy lubrication system. Housed by top of the range guards, the 250HP driveline assembly provides ample power to the wing mower’s three triple-blade rotors. The wing free float helps to protect the hydraulic rams from excessive wear.
The combination of the deck’s unique shape and the triple blade configuration produces unapparelled updraft to award users a superior cut, even for a longer swath finish. The free-swinging blades have been produced out of Swedish Boron steel and a generous overlap to deliver an exceptionally clean cut and an even distribution of chopped residue across the entire working width of the machine.
The RT500 features four individually pressurised wheel arms fitted with heavy duty wheels on twin axles which award superior stability thanks to better cutting height control, contributing towards a smoother finish. Additionally, the RT500’s wings offer a wide range of movement enabling the machine to closely follow the contours of the ground with debris contained by the front and rear chain guards.
As well as the fine quality of the cut, the attention to detail on RT 500 extends to other useful features such as a tight turning circle, a PTO driveline rest, high visibility LED lighting bar and compact transportation width of just 2.4m.
The high-end specification as standard, exceptional performance and flexibility make the Razorback RT500 with optional trailed harrow an appealing choice for farms, airports, racecourses, council authorities and amenity contractors alike.
Auto-Level 550 Rotary Hedgecutter
Alongside the grass and stubble range, Razorback will be presenting their Auto-Level 550 Rotary hedgecutter. The versatile machine incorporates smart self-levelling Co-Pilot technology that assists the operator by keeping the main frame level at all times – regardless of terrain, delivering increased productivity, a superior finish and significant cost savings.
With a high specification as standard, the Auto-Level 550 features a 5.5m reach and 1.5m wide head fitted with three four-blade rotors on a vertical axis. The rotary configuration maintains contact with the hedge through the blades entire 360° cycle, delivering a clean and efficient cut in fewer passes.
