Merlo has been awarded the prestigious Gold Innovation Award by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) for its pioneering electric telehandler, the eWorker – a machine that is redefining sustainable handling in agriculture, horticulture, and beyond.

The eWorker previously received the Silver Innovation Award in 2022, recognising its originality, design excellence, and potential to impact the agricultural sector. In accordance with RHASS criteria, “a Gold Award will only be presented to a previous Silver Award winner that is of outstanding merit and has shown significant success, influence and effect in the marketplace.” Three years on, the eWorker has done exactly that.

Unlike traditional diesel powered machines, the eWorker is not a reimagining – it is a revolution in telehandler technology, key features inlcude:

  • Zero emissions, zero noise, and zero fossil fuel usage
  • Independent electric motors for each front wheel for unmatched manoeuvrability
  • Regenerative braking and intelligent energy management
  • Centrally positioned battery to the centre of gravity enhancing stability and safety
  • 8 hour battery cycle for all day performance
  • Compact dimensions and high steering angle to operate in tight spaces

These attributes make the eWorker ideally suited for Scottish farms, greenhouses, and agri-businesses aiming to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on power or productivity.

“We are incredibly proud to receive the Gold Award from RHASS,” said Shaun Groom, General Manager at Merlo UK. “It reflects the trust our customers have placed in the eWorker and highlights our mission to push the boundaries of what’s possible in material handling while supporting the transition to cleaner, smarter sustainable agricultural practices.”
