Fixed chamber round balers are still firmly established on many farms, where they are valued above all as robust and durable specialists for silage bales and as all-rounders for hay and straw. Since its market launch in 1978, the ROLLANT from CLAAS has characterised the product segment with numerous innovations such as the net binding introduced in 1983, but also with its simplicity and robustness. Now CLAAS is taking the next step with the ROLLANT 630 RC: with further improved wear behaviour, further optimised drives, state-of-the-art operator comfort and high ground clearance with maximum soil protection – in other words: more economical than ever before.
The new ROLLANT 630 RC complements the product range above the ROLLANT 520 and impresses with significantly increased performance at reduced operating costs and large-volume, soil-friendly tyre equipment.
Effective: smooth-running pick-up and 63 or 44 mm length of cut
The ROLLANT 630 RC is equipped with the latest generation of CLAAS pick-up, the CLAAS MULTIFLOW with a working width of 2.10 m (1.90 m DIN raking width). Based on more than 90 years of experience in pick-up technology, it enables even lower-loss crop feeding and a noticeably more constant material flow. Thanks to the new geometry of the cam track, the drive requirement has been reduced by 20 percent while at the same time significantly optimising durability. Removable strippers made of robust, durable plastic guarantee quick and easy access for maintenance work. The standard pick-up works with Five controlled tine bars with reinforced bearings, shafts and couplings, which enables even faster driving speeds for up to 20 per cent more raking power with maximum pick-up efficiency.
Behind the pick-up, the crop is transferred to the bale chamber by the proven heavy-duty ROTO CUT feed rotor with 8 mm thick, spirally arranged double tines made of double-hardened boron steel. Four rows of tines convey the crop at up to 13,800 cuts per minute through either the 17-blade cutting rotor with 65 mm or the 25-blade cutting rotor with a 45 mm theoretical length of cut. The knife groups (17/0, 17/9/8/0 or 25/13/12/0) are conveniently switched or electro-hydraulically. All knives are individually secured and can be swivelled in and out hydraulically via the ISOBUS terminal.
MULTIFLOW HD pick-up, up to 25 knives for a theoretical length of cut of 45 mm and the PRO cutting frame ensure uncompromising performance in a wide range of crops.
A new feature for all machines with knife group activation is the practical knife cleaning system. For the cleaning process, the operator can release the springs, which keep the knives in the crop flow during baling and protect them from foreign objects, from the centre and swivel them downwards by 180°. This causes the dirt to fall downwards. The subsequent knife change is therefore much faster and, above all, cleaner.
With irregular swath thicknesses, the PRO cutting frame is able to open by up to 30 mm to adapt to the forage flow and prevent blockages. In addition, the visual and acoustic early warning system enables the operator to work as close as possible to the maximum throughput of the baler and to reduce the driving speed in advance if the amount of forage increases significantly. Should a blockage nevertheless occur, the cutting frame can be actively lowered hydraulically at the touch of a button on the ISOBUS terminal.
Robust: Powerful drives and solid chassis
The ROLLANT 630 RC works with reinforced chain drives in the drive areas subject to the heaviest loads. The chain links there are longer and stronger, and are subjected to less stress thanks to the larger gears with 14 per cent more contact surface. The double-sided guide on the chain tensioning sprockets also improves durability, as the chain cannot slip or tilt. In addition, the chain lubrication oil tank, which has been enlarged to 7.2 litres, provides sufficient oil supply under all conditions of use. The separate oil quantity control for each chain is economical and environmentally friendly, as only as much oil is applied as is actually needed for up to 14 working hours, without having to top up – saving valuable time. The new central lubrication system is also designed for the most demanding and changing harvesting conditions.
To make the chassis even more stable for extreme harvesting conditions, proven elements from the QUADRANT square balers are used in the areas subject to the greatest stress. The 20 per cent stronger steel profiles can withstand even the highest loads, such as those that occur in very wet crops with correspondingly high bale weights, reliably and durably. The 15 cm longer drawbar makes it easier to attach and align the baler horizontally, and improves manoeuvrability, especially on tractors with large rear tyres.
No compromises: Heavy bales and high core compaction if required
The 1.25 x 1.20 m baling chamber works with 16 profiled baling rollers, with 55 mm thick drive shafts used on the rotors subject to the heaviest load. This means that high baling densities and bale weights can be processed permanently, reliably and with sufficient reserves. The tailgate suspension with a frame made of harder steel is also designed for a long product life.
The MAXIMUM PRESSURE SYSTEM II, or MPS II for short, provides additional pressure with the swivelling 3-roller segment and two large, adjustable springs in the tailgate, guaranteeing rock-hard bales with high compaction from the core to the outside. When bale formation begins, the 3-rotor segment protrudes into the bale chamber. As the bale diameter increases, the rollers are pushed upwards into their final position. As a result, the bale rotates right from the start and is compacted from a diameter of 90 cm. The pressure can be infinitely adjusted mechanically between 60 and 120 bar, depending on the crop and conditions of use.
The tension and wrapping of the net binding – invented by CLAAS in 1983 and continuously developed since then – are set by the operator via ISOBUS according to the respective harvesting conditions and depending on the crop. The same applies to the hydraulic net brake. Thanks to the automatic function, the rear chamber opens automatically once the tying process is complete. The automatic ejection function can be deactivated for work on slopes.
With ROLLATEX and ROLLATEX PRO, various heavy-duty wrapping nets are available for the ROLLANT 630 RC, whereby a total of 3 net rolls can be carried on the machine.
Gentle on the ground and easy to pull: wheel sizes up to 1.10 m in diameter
An important step towards improved soil and sward protection is the large-volume tyre equipment up to 560/45 R 22.5. With a wheel diameter of up to 1.10 m, it also offers excellent transport properties during road travel and first-class slope stability.
Convenient and user-friendly with ISOBUS and CEMIS
ISOBUS operation of the new ROLLANT 630 RC is via the familiar, clearly laid out CEMIS 700 terminal with a 7 inch colour display with touch function, 10 direct access buttons and a rotary pushbutton in the range. Alternatively, the round baler can be operated via other suitable ISOBUS terminals.
ROLLANT in the cloud: Digital machine management with a wide range of options in CLAAS connect
All ROLLANT and ROLLANT UNIWRAP round balers from CLAAS are now also networked via CLAAS connect in the app or on the web. New machines are stored directly in the customer’s CLAAS connect as part of the machine handover. This gives them continuous mobile access to digital operating instructions, the lubricant guide and the CLAAS Parts Shop for ordering original CLAAS lubricants, wear and spare parts. This means that users have everything in one place – no more misplaced operating manuals and tedious searches for suitable lubricants and spare parts. This service is free of charge for ROLLANT customers in CLAAS connect and is available in both the web version and the app.
CLAAS connect also offers comprehensive machine and farm management functions that also support forage harvesting. For example, the integrated bale calculator allows you to calculate the required net or twine to ensure you always have the right amount in stock at . It is also possible to calculate the net or twine costs, which makes invoicing easier for contractors or inter-company use.
