McCormick, a blend of power and high technology from the multinational company Argo Tractors, takes another step forward at Agritechnica. New powers with Stage V engine emissions and innovative design solutions: these are the big new developments that will be presented at the prestigious exhibition of agricultural mechanisation in Hanover on 10-16 November.
In addition to learning about the new products, visitors to the show will have the chance to get to know the world of McCormick and the company Argo Tractors, an enterprise firmly founded on a business 4.0 model where technological improvement and innovation go hand in hand with an attention to the human factor and environmental sustainability. For the industrial group based in Fabbrico, Reggio Emilia, Italy the future is now, focused on developing an international network with the goal of acquiring new dealers and reinforcing its global leadership.
McCormick X7.624: the latest model at Agritechnica competing for Tractor of the Year
McCormick X7.624 VT-Drive Stage V is undoubtedly the most highly anticipated new development at the Hanover Trade Fair, and will also represent the brand at the prestigious Tractor of the Year 2020 competition. With an increase in engine power to 240hp, it represents the highest performance of the X7.6 VT-Drive Series which is characterised by a general increase in power starting from 180hp. For five models in the X7.6 series this means a transition to the new Stage V emission step, the new standard for off-road engines sold in the European Union.
Equipped with a 6-cylinder, 24-valve 6.7-litre Beta Power Fuel Efficiency engine, the McCormick X7.624 delivers a maximum torque of 983 Nm at 1,400 rpm with the Power Plus system that guarantees maximum power and performance combined with fuel savings, lower tractor wear and a generous 36% torque
reserve. The SCR – Selective Catalyst Reduction system with a 52-litre AdBlue tank reduces engine emissions. The SCR system is combined with the DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyser), a passive oxidising catalyst capable of reducing pollutants and meeting the most stringent anti-pollution regulations.
The engine’s B.I.C. – Best in Class system makes it possible to optimise the fuel filters in order to reduce engine oil waste, cutting maintenance times and costs. In addition, the Engine Brake system is used to improve transport efficiency. By using the turbocharger’s throttle valve, the operator can reduce engine rpms by operating the engine brake together with the rear brakes. The Cooling Matrix system facilitates opening of the under-bonnet radiators for cleaning convenience.
The combination of a high-performance engine and the 4-stage continuously variable VT-Drive transmission with 4 sets of crown wheels with oil-cooled clutches provides excellent reactive capacity, making the work particularly easy. The innovative technology of the VT-Drive transmission has four speed ranges, going from a minimum of 0.04 km/h to a maximum of 50 km/h, facilitating productivity in every working environment.
The four-speed PTO and rear axle with reinforced final drives allow full power to be expressed, with a modular drive and automatically adjustable setup. Compared to Stage IV emission levels, the VT-Drive transmission maintains the supporting frame with its characteristic cast iron structure and independent front suspension that guarantees lower vibration levels, greater power and improved front wheel traction with maximum manoeuvrability for greater safety and driving comfort.
The focus on facilitating the operator’s work is maintained and evident in the design of the semi-active suspension cab which features top-quality materials, excellent ergonomics and an attention to detail that results in maximum comfort and spaciousness.
The new configuration of the control unit, governed by the Data Screen Management (DSM), evolves from the existing level with patented “My switch” button to a new version that multiplies these programmable buttons by five, placed on the armrest, allowing the driver to store five functions for greater customisation of the tractor controls.
Also new is the system that allows the operator to adjust the tilting movement of the steering wheel electrically by means of a simple switch and a lever to adjust the height.
McCormick X7.624 is also compatible with satellite guidance and the ISOBUS system that connects the tractor, implements and on-board computer, ensuring superior efficiency and productivity. With ISOBUS, the operator can manage all implements using a single touchscreen monitor without having to use additional control units in the cabin.
Furthermore, the advanced McCormick Fleet Management system makes it possible to manage a fleet of tractors by providing immediate, accurate geofencing information that provides data on the worked area, telemetry and geopositioning.
The superior technology of the tractors is matched by the cabin’s top-drawer interior and exterior. The main new features of the McCormick X7.624 VT-Drive are the new bonnet design in line with the McCormick X8 family styling and the new roof design, with 12 working lights that have been repositioned to give the operator greater all-round visibility even during night-time operations. To increase working comfort the arrangement of the controls on the armrest has been revised to offer improved ergonomics.
McCormick X7.6 P6-Drive: new design and Stage V
McCormick X7.6 P6-Drive offers the same recent developments as the VT-Drive version, i.e. Stage V engine emission and renewed roof design, with 12 new working lights positioned to ensure full, optimal illumination and a new bonnet that reflects the brand’s style and is even more aggressive, ensuring maximum visibility for the operator.
The McCormick X7.6 P6-Drive shows off all its features of comfort, performance and high technology that make the vehicle user friendly and economical in terms of maintenance costs. Its key strengths remain the high quality of the materials used, attention to detail and the spacious and quiet cab. The 6.7-litre 24-valve engine is a Stage V that uses the DOC and SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) systems for exhaust gas treatment. The Cooling Matrix system facilitates opening of the under-bonnet radiators for easy cleaning. Efficiency in transport mode is enhanced by Engine Brake system that, in combination with the throttle valve of the turbocharger, enables the operator to reduce engine rpm by operating the engine brake together with the rear brakes. X7.6 P6-Drive comes with two equipment versions: the Premium version features the CCLS closed-centre hydraulic system with up to 160 l/min and a maximum of 8 electro-hydraulic spool valves and a 3-way flow diverter capable of managing three hydraulic movements
using a single spool valve, a 12″ DSM touchscreen monitor capable of supporting a rear/front camera, and Advanced HMF management for optimal control of headland operations. The Efficient package offers basically the same engine and transmission configuration as the Premium version, however with a basic 88 l/min Open-Centre hydraulic system.
Driving accuracy can be enhanced by the satellite guidance options provided by Topcon Agriculture. Also fitted on steering ready units is the Eazysteer system which reduces the number of turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock making it faster and less tiresome for the operator at each headland manoeuvre. Operator comfort is also maximised by the either mechanical cab suspension or the electro-hydraulic Semi-Active Anti-Damping system with variable ride comfort settings possible.
The front axle with independent front suspension system enhances comfort on the road and greatly benefits grip and stability. The Stop & Action system allows the operator to simply bring the vehicle to a halt by pressing the brake pedals that double as de-clutch controls, enabling the P6-Drive transmission to provide a smooth ride comparable to that of a continuously variable transmission.
The high technological level of this tractor includes the McCormick Fleet Management, a system designed to measure the efficiency of the vehicle in terms of fuel consumption, operating hours and service reminders, all integrated in a portal that allows fleet managers to maximise use and monitor operating costs.
Like the entire X7 Series, McCormick X7.6 uses an ISOBUS-certified system to manage the operation of implements compatible with this technology through a dedicated menu, included in the 12″ touchscreen DSM monitor.
