JCB will introduce several new and improved products at LAMMA 2020 – but for many visitors to the event at the NEC Birmingham on January 7/8, the highlight will be JCB’s WFT Fastrac Two, the highly modified tractor that holds an outstanding World speed record.
Powered by a 7.2-litre JCB Dieselmax six-cylinder diesel engine tuned for 1,016hp and more than 2,500Nm of torque, this most dramatic version of the JCB Fastrac set an average speed of 135.191mph over two 1km runs, and achieved an astonishing top speed of 153.771mph on its way to the new record.
Surrounding this very special Fastrac will be new telescopic handlers and wheeled loaders, and a new version of the Fastrac 4220 with uprated powertrain and capabilities, all designed to help farmers, growers and contractors become more productive.
Loadall 532-60 AGRI
A new addition to the World No1 JCB Loadall telescopic handler range – the Loadall 532-60 AGRI – provides livestock farmers in particular with a compact and highly manoeuvrable machine that incorporates all the features and new Command Plus cab of other models in the Series III range launched at LAMMA in 2019.
As a highly manoeuvrable machine with multi-mode steering for work in and around farm buildings, and sufficient substance for field work such as stacking and loading bales, the new model is an obvious candidate for farms to replace Loadall 526-56 powershift and 527-58 hydrostatic handlers, as well as competitor machines of similar size.
The Loadall 532-60 AGRI comes with a joystick switch-controlled four-speed powershift transmission and a 109hp JCB EcoMAX four-cylinder, 4.4-litre engine.
Its 140-litre/min piston pump hydraulics system provides 3,200kg maximum lift capacity to 6.20m full height and 1,400kg at full forward reach, and buyers can choose 20in tyres for lowest overall height or 24in tyres for maximum traction and under-axle clearance.
The all-new Command Plus cab is standard, providing second-to-none forwards and upwards visibility through the one-piece curved windscreen, greater interior space, more effective ventilation, and a host of handy storage solutions, including a lift-out bin behind the driver’s seat.
WLS 419S and 435S
For larger scale materials handling operations, JCB’s 419S and 435S top-end agricultural wheeled loaders have been given more power and torque but also added fuel economy potential thanks to the new auto idle engine stop and Dynamic power management features.
The JCB 419S now has a ‘default’ power setting of 144hp and 660Nm of torque but when full power is needed for maximum productivity, the operator selects Dynamic mode to release up to 195hp – a 6.5% increase over the previous engine – and 5% more torque at 881Nm.
Corresponding figures for the JCB 435S are 230hp and up to 840Nm of torque for routine work and Dynamic mode outputs of 252hp, which is a 9.5% increase on the current model, with 25.5% more torque at a thumping 1,186Nm also reinforcing the machine’s ‘King of the Clamp’ title.
Fastrac 4000 Series
At the core of the Fastrac 4000 Series upgrades are heavier-duty JCB axles with 33% higher load ratings, larger hubs, bearings and external disc brakes, and a larger front axle differential with positive locking rather than limited slip for maximum traction.
New ‘VF’ category tyre options also offer enhanced traction by operating at a lower inflation pressure for a given load to create a larger footprint on the soil. Conversely, they can carry a heavier load than less sophisticated tyres of the same size without resorting to higher tyre inflation pressures, thereby preserving soil structure by avoiding excessive compaction.
The new tyres complement the inherent 50:50 unladen weight distribution of the Fastrac 4000 Series tractors and the consistent ride height and operating weight distribution provided by the active front and rear suspension systems.
Extending engine service intervals for oil and filters from 500 hours to 600 hours helps drive down cost of ownership, as does the new Auto-Stop feature, which eliminates unnecessary fuel use by shutting down the engine after a period at idling speed – a feature that can be disengaged in situations when this is inappropriate.
TM220 telescopic wheeled loader
JCB’s latest compact rigid arm and telescopic wheeled loaders also have more fuel-efficient powertrain upgrades.
The 2.2 tonne lift TM220 telescopic loader representing these machines at LAMMA 2020 has a 74hp engine coupled to a two-speed 35kph transmission or a three-speed version providing increased tractive effort and a livelier 40kph top speed.
Its new Eco Drive Mode electronically reduces engine revs once the machine’s top speed has been reached, resulting in a quieter journey and up to 16% lower fuel consumption during road travel.
JCB has taken the opportunity of this Euro Stage V engine introduction to upgrade the cab interior, bringing it closer to the standard of the Command Plus cab fitted to larger JCB wheeled loaders with an updated instrument display and a general improvement in the quality of plastics used.
