As the nation prepares to mark the Centenary of the World War I Armistice JCB is digging deep to help a charity which supports the Armed Forces.
The Staffordshire-based digger maker has created a unique ‘Lest We Forget’ mini-digger, with symbolic red poppy livery, which is to be auctioned to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
The 16C-1 model is worth more than £20,000 and all the proceeds from the auction will go to the charity which provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community – serving men and women, veterans, and their families.
JCB Chairman, Lord Bamford, said: “JCB is immensely proud to be British and we should never forget how much we as a nation owe to the generation that fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
“The British Legion’s theme for the Centenary is ‘Thank You’ and we can think of no better way of saying our own thank you than offering a JCB mini excavator to auction off for a charity which supports our brave Armed Forces.”
The auction goes live for pre-registration from Friday 28 September and bids can be placed online from Friday 5 October. Visit www.jcb.com/auctionto pre-register and make your bid.
The winning bidder will be announced at the launch of the Staffordshire Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal at JCB World Headquarters on Friday 26 October 26, 2018.
Designed and built to withstand the toughest of jobs on site, the JCB16C-1 mini digger is a true workhorse. It has 100% steel bodywork for maximum impact, long lasting components as well as 180° opening bi-fold access doors to all cleaning, maintenance points and daily checks.
