Bucket pivot point height of 4.96 m
A key benefit of the TORION 738 T SINUS is the central telescopic boom with an impressive bucket pivot point height of 4.96 m. A maximum payload of 2,300 kg in pallet fork mode on level ground is reliably accommodated even in articulated position, with the boom fully extended. The maximum tipping load articulated is 3,800 kg. The maximum loading and stacking height with loading forks is 4.80 m, and the maximum reach is 2.69 m.
The Z kinematics of the mast impress with high breakaway force and a fast dumping speed. The implement carrier, with a 172° turning angle, has been kept very compact to ensure optimum visibility for the operator. Operator comfort is further enhanced with a fast implement changer and end-of-travel damping for the telescopic boom as standard equipment. Many of these impressive performance parameters are made possible by the unique SINUS steering system.
Ample hydraulic power for lifting and stacking tasks is always available, with hydraulic capacity of 93 l/min. Large oil consumers can be accommodated with an optional additional high-flow pump, providing a further 28 l/min for external implements such as sweepers and mulchers. The maximum operating pressure is 230 bar. A double-acting control circuit can be fitted as additional equipment at the rear, while at the front, a maximum of two control circuits can be optionally fitted for external implements. The hydraulics also feature free flow return and an oil overflow line on the implement carrier.
Extreme stability and manoeuvrability
A machine that lifts heavy loads to great heights has to keep its feet firmly on the ground. This is where the SINUS steering system of the TORION 738 T SINUS comes into its own. Thanks to the unique combination of articulated and rear axle steering, maximum manoeuvrability is achieved with a maximum articulation angle on either side of just 30°.
For this purpose, the rear wheels are directly connected via two steering rods to the front section, providing synchronised steering capability on turning of the articulated joint to a maximum wheel angle of 25°. This results in an outstanding turning radius at the bucket edge of only 4.22 m – unparalleled in this equipment class – and the inside turning radius is just 1.49 m.
The articulated pivot joint allows the front and rear sections to pivot by up to 8° on each side. Layered springs fitted as dampers in the articulated pivot joint noticeably boost operator comfort, particularly on the road.
Maximum safety and stress reduction for the operator
For repetitive loading tasks carried out over long periods, the optional SMART LOADING package provides features for greater user convenience, and significantly reduces operator stress. Functions include the programmable lift height and lowering depth limit, automatic bucket return, dynamic load limit, and display of telescopic boom and implement carrier operation on the 9-inch touchscreen terminal located on the right A-pillar.
The dynamic load limit function operates with pressure and angle sensors, ensuring operation is both comfortable and safe. Measurements accurate to the millisecond keep the operator up to date on the current load status, with a colour bar diagram display on the control terminal. When the limit load ranges are reached, the load limit function dynamically restricts the extension and retraction of the lift arms, and then locks them altogether. Restriction of the telescoping speed and the boom lifting and lowering speed is dependent on the carrying load and the current clearance height. The dynamic automatic control system ensures smooth operation, with no bouncing.
Stage V four-cylinder engine, maximum speed of 40 km/h
The vehicle and its auxiliary units are driven by a 73 hp Yanmar four-cylinder engine with wastegate turbocharger, which meets Stage V exhaust emission requirements with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC). This means that AdBlue is not required. The positioning of the engine behind the cab also serves as a counterweight. The optional reverse fan automatically keeps the radiator system clean by automatically reversing the direction of rotation, and can also be manually activated by the operator at any time.
Another high-performance component of the system is the SMART SHIFTING ground drive, with hydrostat and two-speed automatic gearbox. Two gear ranges can be selected with a rocker switch, with a ground speed of up to 20 km/h in range 1, and up to 40 km/h in range 2. A key feature of the SMART SHIFTING system is automatic gear shift in both gear ranges, with synchronisation of the gearbox and hydrostat for optimum shift reliability and smooth operation. Traction is increased, particularly in difficult terrain, by the standard-fit locking differentials.
Ergonomic workstation with supreme all-round visibility
The cab of the TORION 738T SINUS also offers numerous benefits. With just four narrow pillars, a steeply downward-sloping bonnet, a deep windscreen and slimline boom there is unsurpassed all-round visibility and a clear view of the implement carrier. The entry door and right window can be opened and held in position at an angle of 180°. The heated, air-suspended, low-frequency seat ensures maximum operator comfort in all weathers. An easily operated air-conditioning system provides a pleasantly cool work environment. The three-position adjustable steering column and high backrest also contribute to preventing operator fatigue. Another distinctive feature is the flat cab floor, which provides plenty of legroom and is particularly easy to clean.
All key functions are conveniently located in the right side control panel and the joystick. A unique feature in this equipment class is the adjustable-height monitor on the right A-column. All significant machine parameters and the current status of the dynamic load limit system are displayed on the high-contrast 9-inch display. The home screen is individually configurable. There is a range of assignment options, and a choice of bright and dark modes.
The ergonomic joystick is in the right armrest, directly connected with the operator’s seat, and pivoting with the seat. No change of grip is needed for simultaneous operation of the telescoping function and the third control circuit.
