The benefits to working with an electrically-powered machine have already proven themselves effective on the market. Working conditions for the operator and their environment, as well as the wellbeing of animals, where applicable, are clearly improved with an eMachine. As a result of the specific prevention of CO2 emissions, noise and soot particles, the arising work tasks can be very comfortably performed both inside and outside, yet with the familiar performance.
Economic efficiency that’s worth it
The running energy costs in case of a machine with diesel drive are considerably higher than in case of an electrically driven machine. The higher acquisition costs of the eMachine are recouped after some time, therefore this represents a more economical investment throughout the period of use. Furthermore, there are now already subsidy programmes for CO2 reduction so that the higher acquisition costs can be relativised. In connection with a machine’s own PV system, there are further benefits. The eMachine even proves itself to be better than the diesel machine in terms of maintenance effort as there is no need to change the engine oil or filters, or even clean the radiator.
The new 1390e from Weidemann has an operating weight of between 2,700 kg and 3,200 kg, depending on equipment. The tipping loads of the machine aligned straight with bucket are within the range of 1,670 kg and 2,280 kg. The operator’s canopy, tried and tested overhead guard and cabin are available for selection. The electric loader offers customers many new features and options for tailoring their own machine to suit their own working requirements – here is an overview of the essential features:
- The 96 Volt lithium ion battery is available in three output ratings so that you can optimally coordinate the running times of the eMachine to the operational working requirements: standard is 14.1 kWh, optionally available are 18 kWh and 28 kWh versions. As a result, it is possible to achieve a running time as long as 5.3 hours.
- A 3 kWh on-board battery charger is installed as standard. It is possible to select a second 3 kW on-board battery charger to increase the charging capacity to 6 kW, which is suitable for achieving a fast charge time. At best, this can be 1.8 hours (from is 20% to 80%).
- The electric parking brake with the auto-hold and hill-hold functions ensures for maximum safety and a large degree of comfort with every drive and standstill procedure. Also, the brake system enables gaining back the so-called recuperation energy, which also extends the running time.
- The integrated Battery Management System (BMS) enables a safe and powerful operation, as, for example, the battery temperature is constantly monitored and a possible deep discharge is excluded.
- The charging procedure is performed via an easily accessible, central charging cover to the rear of the machine. Behind this, you will find the socket, the activation switch and the charge indicator. The integrated control box on the charging cable permanently monitors the charging procedure and in combination with the BMS ensures safe and efficient machine charging.
- The charging cable (Type 2 plug) can be combined with a number of different plugs: 230 V Schuko, 230 V CEE, 400 V / 16 A or Type 2 plug with Wallbox (plus other adapter plugs). Considered overall, the flexible charging system by Weidemann offers an efficient and safe charging procedure and is compatible with different infrastructures on site.
- Two separate electric motors (output pursuant to ECE R085) are used in the machine: one for the drive (33.1 kW) and one for the drive system of the work hydraulics (21.2 kW). This minimises the power consumption, because the performance is only drawn when it is really needed. The electric motor for the drive also allows a dynamic and powerful start-up of the machine.
- The flat-face hydraulic couplings that are installed as standard, can be easily cleaned and ensure less soiling across the whole hydraulic system. When coupling the hydraulic hoses there were rarely leaks, so your hands, the machine, the attachment and the ground remain clean. With the flat-face hydraulic couplings attachment can be coupled under pressure, which is time-saving. All types of couplings are mounted to the same bulkhead and are therefore easily accessible.
- Weidemann provides the appropriate kinematics for the machine size for all its machines. P-kinematics come as standard for the 1390e with a 3m lift height, which is characterised by a precise parallel guide across the whole lift range. A longer version of P-kinematics is optionally available, which increases the lift height by 20cm. Additionally, P-Z kinematics with a lift height of 3.20m are also available, which presents a combination of P-kinematics and Z-kinematics. It allows significant lifting and shearing forces and has a finely co-ordinated parallel motion in the process.
- The 1390e’s cabin with its four-pillar design and panoramic rear windscreen provides very good all-round visibility and provides a great provision of space for its size class. The doors are available as one piece or two piece with adjustable windows and gap ventilation.
The cabin heating is of particular relevance to the eMachine as it uses a lot of energy and minimises the machine’s running time when in use. The Weidemann heating design makes it possible to provide heat just there where it is required: Electrically heated front and rear windscreens ensure optimal visibility in any weather and the optional roof panel heating provides a comfortable warmth, which radiates onto the operator from above.
“With the 1390e, we have electrified a larger and therefore more powerful Hoftrac, which valuably adds to our zero emission product portfolio. This all-rounder effortlessly manages medium to large livestock. This size class is like predestined for use in industry, hotels, municipalities and in winter service. In addition to this, the equipment options with different attachment couplings make the machine very flexible in application,” said Commercial Managing Director Bernd Apfelbeck.
With the now three electrified models, the two compact wheel loaders 1190e and 1390e, as well as the compact telehandler T4512e, the Weidemann range provides a good spectrum of working machinery, which can cover both the different size classes (operating weight, working heights, tipping loads) and application-oriented running and charging times (different battery sizes and charger capacities).
