Well known canal steam boat Adamant
Price: £35,000
Description
Well known canal steam boat Adamant is reluctantly for sale, put together originally in 1985 using two 1890s Joey boat ends, Adamant has aways been a steam boat. 56ft long 7ft wide drawing just under 3ft, she is powered by a rare 1890s Cockrane compound engine with steam from a 180 vertical firetube boiler. It all runs through a condescender which means that the boiler water level stays constant when running. Coupled with a Stuart turner steam electric generator which charges the battery. Very free firing and surprisingly economical burning approximately 75kg of coal on a full day's steaming including lighting up. Accommodation is a 1980s style, sleeps 3, hot and cold water and a chemical toilet. A kitchen at stern end and a wash room middships. Recent survey and new anodes fitted and all remedial work to the hull have been undertaken. ADAMANT featured in the Great Steam Adventure on channel 5 with John Sargent and currently moored on Grand union Warwickshire. Asking 35k which could be negotiable to the right person.
