This car is a replica of a 1901 Locomobile steam car designed by the Stanley Brothers in 1899 in America. It is dimensionally correct and the method of construction is authentic. The original car raised steam with a pressurised system using a pilot light and petrol. This has now been modified to use kerosene in a commercial type burner. The brakes have been modified with the addition of a hydraulic disc system, although the original type rear contracting brake has been retained as a handbrake. Water consumption approx. 1 mile per gallon. Water capacity 20 gallons. Fuel capacity 6 gallons of kerosene. Fuel consumption approx. 15 miles per gallon. Boiler working pressure 220 pounds per sq. inch. Takes approx. 30 minutes to reach operating pressure from cold. Top speed approx. 20mph. Please email v_howard_@hotmail.co.uk.
